WASTE MANAGEMENT INVITES YOU TO ATTEND THE SV CHAMBER'S GREEN LIVING EXPO EVENT

Simi Valley, September 23, 2009 - Waste Management, a sponsor of the green expo event, will have a booth at the Simi Valley's "Jumbo Mixer and Green Living Expo Event" scheduled for Thursday, September 24. WM will provide attendees with information about "thinking green," including educational materials to help increase recycling at home and at work.

Waste Management will also display a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Vehicle, a clean-burning vehicle, to the Expo, so that attendees can be a "WM driver" and get their picture taken at the wheel. Waste Management team members encourage everyone to stop by and learn more about our truck and participate in the "Recycling Wheel" game, designed to help players learn about what they can and cannot recycle. Winners will be able to apply their new knowledge with their recyclable WM shopping bag!

The Simi Valley Chamber Jumbo Mixer and Green Living Expo Event is scheduled for Thursday, September 24 at the Simi Valley Town Center Mall from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. The event is free to the public. Additional information can be obtained at http://www.simivalleychamber.org.

"We are excited to talk with folks about thinking green in our community," said Lisa Hemenway, Community Relations Manager for Waste Management. "We always enjoy Ôtalking trash' but this event is a great chance to really make a difference in people's lives by helping them be better recyclers at home, at school and at work."

WM will also have sign ups for folks interested in taking a tour of WM's Simi Valley Landfill and Recycling Center. The tour includes a driving tour of the facility, highlighting WM's green energy program and recycling programs in addition to showing the process of trash and what happens to it after it gets picked up at the curb.

"We have had groups ranging from the local Boy and Girl Scouts to MBA students from CSU Northridge come and tour our site," Hemenway said. "It might sound strange, but an afternoon at the landfill can really be educational!"

Waste Management provides Ventura County with recycling, trash hauling and solid waste disposal through G.I. Industries and the Simi Valley Landfill and Recycling Center. Waste Management has owned and operated G.I. Industries since 1998 and the SVLRC site since 1983 and employs more than 230 people in Ventura County. The SVLRC provides approximately 60% of Ventura County's daily refuse disposal needs. The company operates a “green power” program at the site that generates enough power for 2,500 homes, and clean-burning LNG powers 38 of its trucks. Waste Management is a significant contributor to area community groups. For more information visit our website www.keepingventuracountyclean.com.
