Residents Offered Free Trash Disposal Day
The Simi Valley Landfill and Recycling Center will offer a free residential rubbish day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday for Simi Valley residents.
Appliances, clean concrete, asphalt, clean wood and green waste also will be accepted. Residents are asked to separate recyclables so they are not sent to the landfill.
The California Highway Patrol requires that all loads to be covered to prevent spills.
Participants will have to prove that they live in Simi Valley. Nonprofit organizations can also participate. Residents will have to unload their own vehicles.
No commercial or hazardous waste, liquids, tires, televisions, household batteries, computer monitors, electronic waste, products containing mercury (such as thermometers and thermostats) or fluorescent light tubes and bulbs will be accepted.
To avoid paying commercial dump fees and to expedite the process, residents taking their waste to free day in a commercial vehicle should call the landfill before the event at 579-7267 for information.
