WASTE MANAGEMENT’S FREE DISPOSAL DAYS AT SIMI VALLEY LANDFILL YIELD TRASH, TIRES AND MORE

Simi Valley, CA, October 30, 2007 – Over 1,700 local residents from the cities of Simi Vallley, Moorpark and Thousand Oaks participated in the Simi Valley Landfill and Recycling Center’s (SVLRC) fall free disposal days, bringing with them close to 1,350 tons of refuse and recyclables.

The recent disposal days yielded:

  • Trash and recyclables - 1,346 tons
  • Appliances - 53 (all of which are sent to LA for recycling/processing)
  • Tires - 124 (all of which are sent to LA for processing/recycling)
Waste Management provides residents of Simi Valley, Moorpark and Thousand Oaks two free disposal days – one in the spring and another in the fall – at Waste Management’s facility each year. The fall events took place on the third Sunday of September and October.

“The free residential disposal days are a great added benefit of having the Simi Valley Landfill here in Ventura County,” said Mike Smith, market area general manager of Waste Management of Ventura County. “By finding an appropriate place for tires and appliances – which are sent to Los Angeles for processing – we are all doing our part to keep Ventura County clean.”
